My recording from this show will be up eventually. It just might take a few weeks.
9/25 ETA: I’m going to have to put off posting this recording indefinitely. I just don’t like how it sounds and I don’t have the editing skills needed to make it post-able, IMO. Sorry to get people’s hopes up.
Maybe at some point I can get some help with the editing and I will post it then. We’ll see.

What I like about Paul Thorn’s songs is their honesty, truth and humor. ‘Real’ is the word that comes to mind again and again.
‘Intimate’ and ‘fun’ are the words that come to mind when I remember the show he played at the Little Fox Theatre in Redwood City August 9th, 2009.
I had a great time at this show, and I will never miss Paul Thorn when he comes to town again. (I really wish he would come to the San Francisco Bay area more often.)

Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam at Slim’s in San Francisco, September 6th, 2009.
Nice poster, too.

stolen placeholder pic until Art hooks me up with his cell phone pic from the show
It was a hot show: hot as hell inside the lower level of Stubb’s in Austin, Davy’s tea was hot, and of course the music was hot, with Davy burning up the strings and melting faces all night long.
Each time I listen to the recording of the show I am blown away all over again.
Here’s some samples:
What In the World (Rory Gallagher)
Commotion (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
Coming Up For Air
Walk On Hot Coals (Rory Gallagher)

When Linda T let me know a short while ago that she was getting her first recorder and jumping into taping, I was pretty excited.
When she dropped one of her first shows in my mailbox, I was thrilled!
Check out a sample of new taper extraordinaire Linda T’s August 16th 2009 audience recording of Taylor Hicks:

Runnaround
‘A Blues tune…an old Tibetan folk singer song’ (Gonna Move)
So, what do you think? Pretty good, right?

Kings Of Leon – Notion
Ok, I’m going to be honest: I have no idea when I can get the last three shows posted. It could take six months, who knows? I’m swamped. Davy, Lyle and Paul are going to have to just wait.
In the meantime, I can’t get this song out of my head. Heard it on the radio and instantly fell in love. Caleb Followill’s voice has my heart.
So the Kings of Leon have been around a while, sure. I just haven’t paid them much attention because I was listening to other things…I was going another direction the last few years. But now their direction has crossed with my direction and I’m finally paying attention. I’m liking almost everything I’m finding. I like their older stuff, I like the newer stuff, I like this band.
I like something on the radio. Wow.
*sorry for the delay*
I’ve been busy and unable to post lately, but I will get to it eventually.
I’ve seen three shows, so I do have things to post, it’s just that time is very short this time of year.
Happy end of summer to you all!

I finally picked up this album. Actually I finally heard part of this album and then bought it straight away.
Play it on good speakers and just relax the day away…

Thanks to reader Moonshadow for passing along the news…
So here’s the thing: He’s an artist and he has every right to do his thing to make his art. But my heart still feels like it’s breaking.
Who are these…strangers? Are we expected to love them?
It’s like when mom and dad get divorced and then one of them introduces you to their new love interest. Blech. I hate them, and for no other reason than they are the new people. Sorry new people. I don’t know you, but I have to hate you. At least for now.
The music sounds pretty good, I guess.
Indiscriminate Act of Kindness at The Magic Bag, Ferndale MI, June 22 2009
A thousand thanks to EJ for the video, and a thousand lashes for the chick who yelled “I love you!!” at the end.
RIP
Remember “Rockin’ Robin”? My gosh I loved that song when I was a kid… Playing through a stack of my mom’s 45’s is how I found it, and how I was introduced to Michael Jackson. I just fell in love right there. I must have been about eight years old…
I’m sure am looking forward to catching Paul Thorn’s show at Redwood City’s Little Fox in August. Yes I am.
