Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse: Dark Night of the Soul

You can hear the entire album on NPR:

Exclusive First Listen: Danger Mouse And Sparklehorse Team Up With David Lynch

Good stuff!

And this is interesting:

An unnamed spokesperson for Danger Mouse says that “due to an ongoing dispute with EMI” the book of photographs will “now come with a blank, recordable CD-R. All copies will be clearly labeled: ‘For legal reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use it as you will.'”

ETA: Take a hint, people. If you want some tunes to burn to that blank CD-R, Learn how to capture the NPR stream HERE.

I already sorta recapped the vibe of the show in the first post, so I won’t add too much here. It was a late night, a rowdy night, a great night. I felt like I had been waiting to see Ryan Bingham for years, but really it had only been a few months since I first heard of him.

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the dude downstairs who kept yelling out requests. At the time I didn’t appreciate him much, but looking back… Gracias, brother. You requested some good stuff.

Audio downloads should be up in a few days. (ETA: downloads HERE)

Here is the set list with samples of the audio:

1. Roadhouse Blues

2. Dollar a Day

3. Hard Times
4. Day Is Done (maybe a little clipping. Sorry.)

Ryan Bingham and The Dead Horses Burn Down the Hotel Utah

Ryan Bingham and The Dead Horses @ The Hotel Utah, San Francisco, May 8, 2009.

Last night I heard some of the best rock n’ roll (alt country? roadhouse music?) I’ve ever had the chance to hear. These guys are just F@#*ING AWESOME.

Everything was better live. That’s hard to believe since the albums are so great, but it’s true.

They started around midnight and played about 2 hours.

The place was destroyed when they were done. Broken glass everywhere and a sea of spilled beer on the floor that soaked the bottoms of our pants. Good times.

I recorded the show, and I think it came out okay. I’m going to try to fix it up a bit and I’ll be posting it in the next month or so, so stay tuned.

The news: Ryan Bingham’s new album, Road House Sun is streaming HERE.

The album is due to be released 6/02/09.

I haven’t even listened to the whole thing yet, but I like it so far. I’m listening to “Day is Done” right now and it rocks. Love.

ETA: Ok, I’ve listened to it all once now. and based on that limited listen I will say….I like it. Maybe even love it. I just can’t get enough of this guy’s music.

ETA: HELL YEAH. I love it.

ETA: ‘Bluebird’…I keep going back to that song.
